Abstract / Many Body System

Introduction

This simulation shows many massive stars orbiting a much more massive 'core' star.

How it was created

It was created by making a new simulation, then using the Edit / Add Family... facility with the 3D Collapsing Cloud quick setup, and then running the system until it had collapsed about as far as it would go - with most of the stars combined into one large central star, but with many stars 'left over'.

What you can do with it

If you set the system running, you can watch how it evolves, and see how the orbits change as the stars interact with each other.

Ideas for further investigation

You can create a huge variety of many body systems yourself, using the Edit / Add Family... facility with various quick setups, edited in various different ways. You can also create many body systems by adding particles one at a time, rather than by using the Edit / Add Family... facility.
